eeek! I think we just sold our house

I'm seriously going to throw up.

I think we just sold our house.

Now, this has been in the process for awhile. Since December 5th, actually, but I think we're just about to seal the deal.
We've accepted an offer, made it through the inspection and signed our last document last night.
All that's left should be the actual closing.

I'm seriously going to throw up.

I haven't mentioned a word on here because we've been through so much and we weren't really sure where it was going to lead.
I almost hate to mention anything now. Nothing's really sure until you hand them the keys, but I've been bursting at the seams for almost 2 months and I just had to share.

The people that are (allegedly) buying our house viewed it for the first time on 12/5. They stayed for an hour and 1/2. How did we know that, you ask? Well, because we sat in a parking lot across the street for most of the time they were there. It's a long story.

They came back for their 2nd visit about a week later and stayed for over an hour and 1/2. We thought this was a good sign.
Then they said that they were going to make an offer. They wanted to do it before they left on vacation, which was also over Christmas, but we didn't hear anything. Then the day they returned from vacation (1/6) they made an offer. We countered, they countered, we accepted: 1/9.

Then they scheduled an inspection: 1/19.

A NINE HOUR INSPECTION.

Everyone we've told can't believe it took that long. They've never heard of such a thing. Neither had we and believe me, it was pretty darn intimidating too. We were able to leave for most of the day while they were there.
We left at 8am and they were there, we came home at 3:30 and they were STILL there.
The husband, the wife and the inspector.
So, we had a nice LONG chance to meet the people that want to buy our house. The cat (one of the 2) rubbed all over them, Lola slept on them, the kids played with them.....unbelievable.
I can't even tell you how it felt to have the wife lead me around my house and show me how she is going to decorate it, how they have to paint it, etc.
Kind of insulting in a way......"what's wrong with the way it is NOW?"
Anyway, the inspection went pretty well ultimately. Our house was built in 1890, so there could have been SO MANY things that could've gone wrong. Turns out the biggest issue was them wanting the electrical system upgraded to 200 amp. That's about it. whew.

We're not sure at this point when the closing date is. There was a date originally, but I don't know if we're going to stick with that or not. After closing, we have 10 days to move out.
why am I sitting here ? I really should start packing......

Where do we go after we move out? Well, this is where it gets really interesting.
We don't want to take the kids out of their school in the middle of the year, so we need to stay in our district till May 28th. Fortunately for us, my parents live in our district (even though they're in another town AND another time zone...) So, we'll be bunking with them till school's out.
To make it even MORE interesting, we think we're going to build a house. They promised us it would take 3-4 months (yeah, right) so we'll need to stay with the 'rents till our new house is built. Which, if they stick by their word, should be around the same time that school's out anyway.

BUT! NOTHING ever works out that well for us, so we'll see. At least we have a place to stay, and

THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!!
(the people who don't like cats, especially in their house)

There's just a lot going on right now. Waiting to sell our house, needing to sell before we can buy/build, moving twice in less than 6 months, moving in with my parents with 2 kids, 2 cats and a dog, putting all our stuff in storage, leaving our home and our family and friends and our church......yikes.
Who's idea was this ?

One of these days, when everything is more certain, I'll post pictures of our new house plans. There is only one other existing house like the one we want to build, so we don't have any actual pictures, just plans.

Holy guacamole, wake me up in a year.

My little Lilibug blog is 3 years old today.
I honestly I cannot believe I've had that much to say over the last 3 years, but thank you for sticking around :)

Quite a Big Day Around Here

"Gong Hay Fat Choy!"
Pocky!!! Mmm, Mmmm, Good.

Dinner tonight was 'Chopsticks Only'. While Brett went for the shovel and slurp technique...

Lili went for the stab and divide technique.
(neither was very pretty, let me tell you)

Lili also had her '100th day of school' today!!
She's '100 days smarter' too :)

Only 80 MORE DAYS OF SCHOOL :) :) :)

We went out yesterday and celebrated CNY at our local Chinese restaurant.
Tonight, it was fried rice out of a box and Pocky for dessert.
Martha Stewart would have my head

Head Banger

You've all seen "Princess Lili" and "Ballerina Lili", but did you ever expect to see "Hair Band Lili"? Bet you wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it for yourself. Yep, that's my girl.

I have to admit, the sparkly pink skirt does off-set the metal edge a bit.

And did you notice her throat slashing move towards the end of the video? She was mimicking me trying (in vain) to get her to stop dancing. Guess she thought it was a cool move. I think you can also see her giving the thumbs up. That would be me again trying in vain to convey to her that I indeed get enough video of her for one day.

What a diva. (and what a strong neck)

Chinese New Year/Spring Festival

Our little homage to CNY/Spring Festival.
We tried out the chopsticks tonight in preparation for Chinese food on Monday.
EVERYONE but Lili got the hang of it.
She said: "I can eat with fork!"
We kept telling her that she was Chinese, like she had some natural born talent for it or something...not very politically correct. oops.
So, she will be eating her "Chineey foo" with a fork, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Snow Days Make Her Hungry

Friday we were stuck at home, home from school because it was 22 degrees below zero.
Lili was in fine eating form all day.
She had:
a bowl of strawberry oatmeal
with a yogurt chaser
scrambled eggs
a piece of toast
fruit snacks
2 bowls of Ramen noodles
goldfish crackers
(then she said she was hungry, but I ignored her)
a tilapia filet
2 servings of white rice
and 3 snacks:
a 'candy candy' (candy cane)
a 'loppy-pop' (lollipop)
and 'pee scum' (a piece of gum)
then she had her bedtime snack, I can't remember what it was, daddy took over by then because I was EXHAUSTED.
Do any of you out there have a child that eats so much? and at only 5 years old?
Maybe it's normal, but we're used to Brett.
Here's what he ate all day:
a Pop Tart
(tried to get him to eat eggs with Lili, no go)
fruit snacks
2 bowls of Ramen noodles
then he went to a friend's house where he said he had one piece of pizza.
It's like Jack Sprat and his wife around here.

This Girl Has One FANTASTIC Sense of Humor!

August 2007: Gotcha Day

New Year's Day 2009

I was going through Lili's closet yesterday and I found her Gotcha Day outfit.
Dress, shoes and underwear......did I ever mention that she was wearing little boys' superhero briefs?
Brett was so excited when he noticed them. I'll never forget him saying "Hey, I used to have underwear like that!"
Anyway, Lili saw the clothes and got all excited because she remembered them from China. She wanted to put them on and cry "like China" and show Daddy.
So, that's exactly what she did.
Everything still pretty much fit, even the size 2T underwear. (and with as much as she eats, too. unbelieveable)
She really had a lot of fun. She was thrilled that everything smelled like China too. (yeah. woo hoo, China smell)
What a kid.
I don't know many other people that would be that thrilled to re-enact probably the most traumatic incident in their lives.
Guess her attachment is complete :)

Look What I Did

I bought 'Art Explosion Scrapbook Factory Deluxe' with a gift card and it is THE coolest thing.
You can make digital scrapbooks, make photo scrapbook CDs, make embellishments and print them out for traditional scrapbooks.....I haven't even used it but twice so I'm not even sure what all can be done.
But, since I'm pretty much computer illiterate, I'm excited that I can share what I've created very easily (key words) to my blog.
So, prepare yourself for a deluge of digital scrapbook pages.

I know. You can hardly wait.
