"No way over it, No way around it. If we want it we have to go through it"

"No way over it, no way around it
If we want it we have to go through it."
Words to live by.
Just heard those lyrics on the radio and they couldn't be more true.
We can't do anything but go through what we need to go through to bring Lili home.
This weekend in the mail we got information we need to update our home study. I can't believe it. It's been almost a year since our homestudy was completed. Unbelieveable. We basically need to go to our doctor again to have him affirm that we are still as healthy as we were last March. I'm just so thankful that we don't need to do all the lab tests again (at least I don't THINK we do). I think he just states that we're still the same ol' same ol'. Maybe a few more gray hairs and stress lines!!
But, "we have to go through it" because BOY!! DO WE WANT IT!!

Happy Chinese New Year---the year of the GOLDEN Pig---Super-Duper Lucky!!

Here's hoping that 2007 will be a better year in China adoptions than 2006 was!
I pray that this year, against ALL odds, Lili comes home. Because God doesn't deal in "odds" or "luck" or "predictions".
Miracles happen. And, that looks like exactly what we'll need!!

February--Month #5

Tomorrow marks our 5th month LID. Whooopee!! If only it really meant something.
I LONG for the time when it was 6 months from LID to referral.
Heck, I even long for the time when it was 12 months to referral.
And, what scares me most is that I'm probably going to long for the time when it was 24 months to referral.
What can I do? In or out, I'm still living the same life day to day. At least staying in it, every day is a day closer.......
So, tomorrow I have Chinese food to look forward to.
The day after that is Valentine's Day. Big whoop when you've been married 14 years! Jeff always remembers me and won't allow me to cook, so I don't have it too terribly bad!!
It's just kind of sad to see how everyone pushes it. "Show her you love her".....you should "show her you love her" EVERYDAY!! And why is it ALWAYS directed at men? Shouldn't women show him they love him too? It just makes me sad as a mother to a son and a wife to a good man that men are being discounted more and more. Christmas (or "THE HOLIDAYS" now), Valentine's Day, anniversaries, birthdays are ALL about recognizing women, wives, mothers. What about men, husbands and fathers?? Mother's Day is a huge money-making "holiday". But what about Father's Day? No one cares much about Father's Day anymore. It frightens me. If men need women, doesn't it make sense that women need men? I'm all for equal pay, etc. but I'm sick and tired of men being picked on. Every husband and/or father on TV is some bumbling idiot. A buffoon who is never right, never smart and always, ALWAYS one-upped by women, children, pets, anyone.
So there you have my rant for the day.
Boys aren't stupid and you shouldn't throw rocks at them.

Year One of Our Adoption Journey

Tomorrow marks the one-year mark of our adoption journey.
On 2/10/2006 our formal application was approved and our case officially opened.
As you'll see in the first picture, taken 2/2006, Madeline is awaiting Lili with still some interest and excitement.
As you can see in picture #2, taken 2/2007, Maddie is growing tired of the wait.
You can also see that Lili's room was still intact as our guest room. Now, the bed is gone, the walls are bare and the ENTIRE room is cluttered with all things Lili! Hope to start working on her room by this summer maybe? Not that there's ANY rush!!
So, happy anniversary. It's a double edged anniversary:
Look how far we've made it
Look how far we've yet to go............

Go Colts!!

Congratulations to the Indianapolis Colts and the whole state of Indiana!!
While neither team played their best, Indy deserved to win. Peyton as the MVP?? Why not? No one else deserved it.
Poor Bears!! I really hoped they'd have one of their GOOD games. Poor Rex--he's such a putz!! But what a way to start the game!!! 92 yard kickoff return?!?!? Holy smokes---THAT was exciting!!
Oh well, Chicago gets enough attention. It's time Indiana got some respect!
Should I even talk about the halftime show?? Do you REALLY want to hear me gush about Prince? You do? Well, OK then, if you insist!
PRINCE ROCKS!!! I LOVE him! Poor guy was drenched, but he kept on rockin'! Even hubby was impressed! My son, however, was kind of afraid of his mommy. (who is this hysterical woman?) I felt like a teenager again! :)
