Catching Up

I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since my last post---I just HOPE the time continues to fly till referral!!
Nothing new on the adoption front. We are 2 months into our wait. On Monday 11/13 we ate Chinese food. (and we ate it again on 11/14 and 11/15!) I'm making my boys learn to eat with chopsticks. Not an easy task! I just cannot eat Chinese food with a fork. Chopsticks make it taste better!
We may be learning Chinese from 3 high school girls from China. The speech pathologist at the school I work at is working with these girls after school. They wanted to repay her in some way and asked if she knew anyone that wanted to learn Chinese. Boy does she!!! She told them about us and they said that they know us, that we come in to their restaurant all the time. We had just been there the day before on the 13th!
We are pretty excited to not only learn Chinese (and good luck with that!) but to get to know the family. That to me is the best part. I've always been intruiged by other cultures and other countries and peoples, so this is going to be right up my alley! Can't wait!
I attended my first Cyber Shower Saturday. Our August DTC group (the "Lucky 8s") had a cyber baby shower. I had the BEST buddy. She got me a wonderful book and hooded towel that I will cherish.
It's such an amazing concept to be able to meet and get to know total and complete strangers from across the globe that you have so much in common with! Amazing. I am so glad I have this blog and I belong to this DTC group. It really is a small world after all! :)
It's just so nice to be able to communicate with people who share this experience. They know how I'm feeling, they've been or are where I'm at. They know the lingo, they feel my pain! I don't know what I'd do without all the cyber support out there!
So, thanks everybody. You've made a difference in my life.

November--Month #2

So here it is November. The month that is my birthday. The month that Christmas prep goes into full swing. The month that "real family time" gets into gear. The month that (on the 13th) marks "Month #2" off of our wait time.
I like November. I like the anticipation of Christmas. I like getting all the decorations up. I like the white twinkle lights that light up our house at night. I like Thanksgiving (by the way, I consider it a travesty to call it "Turkey Day"...it's a day to give thanks to God and reflect on His blessings, not just gorge ourselves and fall into a triptophane coma). I like being with family. I like watching football in the middle of a week day. I LOVE watching the Cowboys play, even when they lose. I like making our Christmas lists for our parents and count down the days left till Christmas morning. I like thinking of what cookies I'm going to make. I like playing board games with my sister in law, because as anyone who knows us knows, she's more like my REAL sister than any genetic sister I could have! I love lit fireplaces and the smell of my birthday candle-smoke. I love watching Christmas movies, which by the way, as life gets in the way you realize you need to watch in November because December is crazy and goes too fast.
I like going to our church's Christmas play rehearsals and watching my son as he has progressed from "baby Jesus" to "toddler Jesus" to "one of the shepherds" to "one of the wise men" to, one day all too soon: "Joseph". I like sitting here thinking about Lili one day being an angel in those very plays. I like imagining her on Christmas Day and what gifts she'll want Santa to bring her. (I admit I like sitting here now thinking of what I'm going to get her for THIS Christmas and save for her:) )
So, November is good. It's THE MOST busy month at work, but since this is my LAST November, I'll just try to remember that and keep it all in perspective.
And, on November 13th, as we'll do the 13th of EVERY month, we'll have Chinese food. Call me a goober, but I kind of like that idea.
And, on November 13th, we'll have been LID for 2 months. Happy Birthday to me!! :)
