Golden Boy
Holy Sunrise, Sunset, when did my little guy get to be a teenager ??
We asked him what he wanted to do and he decided that he wanted to have a friend over to the pool to go swimming and spend the night. We had our family party the next day and had a really nice time (as always).
This was Brett's "Golden Birthday", have you ever heard of such a thing? I hadn't until his 2nd grade teacher told him that whatever day you were born on is your golden birthday when you turn that age. i.e: Brett was born on the 13th, so his golden b-day is his 13th b-day, mine would've been my 12th (sure, NOW you tell me!), Lili's will be her 20th!!
For Brett's actual birthday, on a Tuesday, he chose to go to Steak N Shake, since he had a free birthday dinner coupon...
...and bowling. REAL bowling, not this bowling on the Wii thing---which I'm awesome at, by the way, unlike REAL bowling.
We also went to Logan's Roadhouse for dinner, aka "that place where you throw the peanuts on the floor cuz you can and nobody gets mad" :)
All in all, I think Brett had a pretty golden birthday. We got him some techie gifts, including a camera, because he's been going on some trips this summer and he's all into taking pictures now. He's at Cedar Point right now with his church youth group, so we'll be interested to see what pics he took.
It's very strange only having one kid around the house again. Especially the Chinese one. Kinda a new experience for us. (one kid IS a lot easier than two---amazing!!)
Oh, and a quick description of the previous post's pictures of our pool house.
All of the "after" labeled pictures should actually be labeled "during". We are no where near "after", but are pleased with what we've done so far. We still have to do all the walls and flooring and new kitchen cabinets, another bathroom....and, and, and the list goes on and on. But, we're happy it's feeling more like home and we've been swimming so much, we haven't really been inside but to sleep anyway. We had a lovely July 4th party/reunion and have had a relaxing 3 (or 4) day weekend all summer long. So, that's what it's all about. Which is also why I haven't been blogging much this summer, too busy traveling from house to house and having FUN!! :)
Hoping you all continue to have a safe, relaxing summer because school for us starts in less than a month---eek.
