I-171H-eck yeah!!!!!
Thursday 6/29 we received out I-171H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo hoo and yippee!!
Up to this point, this is the MOST EXCITING THING EVER!!!
However, I thought that the form itself would be somewhat more fantastic looking. THIS is the form that you wait and worry over. Doesn't the government owe you something?? (stupid question, I know) I mean, shouldn't there be colorful seals or a pretty border around it at least? It was so underwhelming I called my agency to make SURE this indeed was THE form!
Anyway, bells and whistles aside, the importance is what the form stands for. Oh, so much!!!
Our whole family schlepped down to Indy one more time. We had to get the rest of our dossier state sealed (I-171H included). We also wanted to be able to turn in our dossier once and for all.
We were able to get sealed with no problems. We also turned in our dossier a few days sooner than we had expected to be able to (which means, hopefully, it will get to China that much sooner too).
I have to say, after leaving our dossier at the agency, I felt so strange. THIS had become my baby. I was very relieved to get it out of my house, but kind of missed it when I got home (kind of like "empty nest" I guess). I still feel a little strange looking at the big hole on the dining room table where all the forms used to be! (yeah I know, I should've maybe found a better place for it all)
My husband and I both are very "believe it when we see it" people, so to be excited about getting it turned in is kind of hard for us. But when we are really truly LID, watch out! You'll be able to see our million watt smiles for miles!!
After all the technical stuff was out of the way (which everyone knows I CANNOT go on until it is!) we went to the Children's Museum. I have a nice new zoomy megapixely camera and I must have taken 50-60 pictures! I've never been a picture-taker much, but I guess I just needed the right equipment!
By the way, there happened to be a field trip there----Chinese english as a second language field trip :) We were eating lunch in the museum cafeteria and there was a family with a 5 or 6 year old girl next to us. I noticed my husband was looking at her. There was a 2 year old Chinese boy looking at him from another table, which I told him about. He said "I know, he's cute, but seeing her gives me chills." I spent the rest of our lunch time crying on my BBQ chicken!
